Hope for Hrazdan TOTAL FUNDS RAISED: $28304

Children’s Assistance Fund NGO (CAF) provides social, educational, and healthcare support to nearly 150 disabled children in Hrazdan and surrounding villages. Professional teachers, psychologists, and social workers offer general education, intellectual games, physical education, art, and dancing. The US Embassy was generously supporting the center in the last 2 years, however as of January 1st, 2017, CAF was forced to cease operations, because of no financial resources. Ayo! will embrace this mission to raise emergency funds for Hrazdan. FAR, our parent organisation, chimed in and...

I Care for Eye Care TOTAL FUNDS RAISED: $2600

Armenia’s population consists of many groups, one of which consists of the impoverished elderly. Since 1995, FAR has tried to ensure that groups like the elderly and the poverty-stricken live a more dignified life. Currently, there are 781 beneficiaries—families, children, and elderly—who attend FAR’s five different soup kitchens. One of the major challenges the elderly must deal with is caused by their failing eye-sight. Ayo! and the Armenian Eye Care Project (AECP) joined resources for the shared goal of providing free eye examinations to...

Healthy Hearts for Artsakh TOTAL FUNDS RAISED: $540

Failing Forward: Turning our mistake into a lesson learned Earlier this year, we visited Stepanakert, NKR, and our team grew very passionate about health opportunities available to all, regardless of financial ability. We met with a local non-profit, people in the area, and FAR experts to launch Healthy Hearts. The project aimed to introduce a public fitness alternative to those in Stepanakert, where smoking and other unhealthy habits prevail. At the end of our usual allotted 90-day fundraising period, Healthy Hearts collected less than 10% of the targeted goal. Though much of this was fundraised within Armenia, an incredible feat of itself,...

Breathe Freely TOTAL FUNDS RAISED: $7723

Many international health organizations estimate that nearly 70% of Armenian adults smoke, placing Armenia annually among the top five in national percentage of smokers in the world and the highest percentage in Europe. With your support, we'd like to change the way people think about smoking and the effects of second-hand smoke. Donate now to invite 20-30 of the top free-style artists in Armenia to paint anti-smoking murals all over Yerevan. Help us challenge Yerevan’s habits and customs, and challenge her to consider her future and...

Gifts to Schoolchildren TOTAL FUNDS RAISED: $2919

Defibrillators TOTAL FUNDS RAISED: $1051

Back in 2013 we found out that ambulances in the Tavush Region are not equipped with defibrillators. Tavush, which is one of Armenia's poorest, is also one of its most dangerous, as there is frequent gunfire along the border with Azerbaijan. So, we at Ayo! immediately came up with the idea of raising funds in order to get defibrillators into those ambulances. Many eminent doctors in Armenia and abroad joined our campaign. We aimed to buy 4 defibrillators, to cover a large part of the region. The good news is that as a result of our fundraising efforts,...

Syrian-Armenian Business Network TOTAL FUNDS RAISED: $4800

In the last 2 years, a large number of Syrian-Armenian refugees have opened businesses in Armenia with the hopes of generating a sustainable income, integrating into their new Armenian community, and regaining some much needed stability in their lives. These entrepreneurs are all extremely resilient and resourceful, but if they possessed the market visibility equal to those of their local counterparts, they would be able not just to survive, but thrive in Armenia. This is why Ayo! and RepatArmenia, in collaboration with Jarakite Creative...

Protective Walls TOTAL FUNDS RAISED: $16492

The first thing I noticed when I visited Aygepar Village was the strange smell that hung in the air, a smell that was unfamiliar to me. I asked villagers what it was. “It’s the smell of gunpowder, dear,” they said. Then came the gunfire. It started early in the day and I don’t even remember how long it lasted – hours, maybe. The shots were fired from the Azeri side of the border, located just 200 meters from the edge of tiny Aygepar. Being a Yerevan resident, it wasn’t just sound of gunfire that was strange and shocking to me, it was the feeling of what it was like to live,...

Braille Printer TOTAL FUNDS RAISED: $10385

In Armenia, there is only one special school for visually impaired children. Braille textbooks are expensive, out-of-date, and irreparably worn out. A Braille printer will allow Special School No. 14 to keep up with all...
