Project Goal
A collection to support the Armenian school that burned down in Altadena, CA. We will use the funds to help them with general needs that have arisen.
Project Background
Sahag-Mesrob Armenian Christian School was founded in 1980 in Pasadena by Lebanese architect Mike Youssefian, who was inspired by the local Armenian community and the need for an Armenian day school. After relocating to Pasadena to escape the Civil War, Youssefian used his personal savings to establish the school, with support from local Christian organizations and businesses. The school’s mission is to provide a Christ-centered education grounded in Armenian heritage.
Sahag-Mesrob, which currently serves 200 students, completely burned down in the terrible wildfires that began spreading across the LA area in January 2025. The American-Armenian community has always stood ready to say Ayo! to emergency needs in Armenia, from the earthquake in 1988 to the recent flooding in May 2024. The Ayo! Team stands with our friends in LA and we are committed to doing our part to help. Our general collection will support the school as it gets back on its feet and finds a path forward to continue educating students despite the major losses.
